I swept up the dice in front of me up in one smooth motion. Nestled in my

palm, it was a splendid thing, all of its sides were perfectly uniform.

Howard Phillips had warned me "Never leave an angle. Never cast the dice."

But he was always one for the melodramatic and I was compelled by something

beyond my capacity to resist. I threw it.
